Certain North Coast Visitor Sites Closed Due to Extreme Weather Conditions

The Forestry Corporation of NSW (formerly Forests NSW) has advised the public that numerous visitor sites within State forests across NSW have been closed due to extreme weather conditions.
Forestry Corporation Community Partnerships manager, Pauline Stewart, said it was important that the public took notice of these closures as numerous visitor sites in State forests were now dangerous to visit due to heavy rain and gale force winds experienced during the past few days.
The major North Coast visitor sites affected are in Heaton and Olney State Forests (collectively known as the Watagans) near Cooranbong, Strickland State Forest near Gosford; Chichester State Forest near Dungog; Mt Boss State Forest near Wauchope; Coopernook State Forest near Taree; Kerewong State Forest near Kew; Barrington Tops State Forest near Gloucester; and Styx River State Forest near Walcha.
“The Forestry Corporation will let the public know when access resumes,” Ms Stewart said.
