The benefits of sustainable forestry and related industries across the Mid North Coast (MNC) alone are very significant. The MNC is the predominately coastal area between Taree and Coffs Harbour and represents the southern section of the North Coast Forestry region.

The combined sawmill, wood and furniture product manufacturing sector is the second largest employer of ALL manufacturing industries across the MNC comprising 973 employees as of December, 2012. It sells more than $102m of product into other local industry sectors for production and value adding.

The industry is the third largest value-adding industry and also the third largest exporter, selling $182m of product to customers outside of the region.
