Parliamentary Secretary confirms Gillard Government commitment to the Forests Industry at AFPA Conference

The Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA) held its annual general meeting and policy forum in Melbourne earlier last month and was pleased to welcome the Parliamentary Secretary for Industry and Innovation, the Hon Mark Dreyfus QC, to address the policy forum. Mr Dreyfus emphasized the important contribution these industries make in providing jobs and security to regional and rural communities as well as the environment by using sustainably managed forestry resources. Mr Dreyfus also outlined some of the exciting opportunities for the future production of a range of bio-products and the commitment by the Gillard Government to work collaboratively with industry and researchers to ensure a sustainable and competitive future for the industry.

Good news indeed and the North Coast Forest' s Taskforce looks forward to the Department turning these commitments into strong action in the near future
